Dr Nicole Chiang is a Consultant Dermatologist on the GMC Specialist Register. She has been a Consultant Dermatologist for over 10 years. She offers private dermatology clinics in Manchester and Cheshire (Lumiere Clinics). She is trained in both paediatric and adult dermatology. Her special interest areas are cosmetic dermatology and hair disorders. She had previously worked as an NHS Consultant Dermatologist at the Manchester University Hospital and ran the Specialist Hair Clinics at Salford Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts.
She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Liverpool and graduated with an Honours degree in Medicine and Surgery in 2007. She underwent general medical training and then pursued her dermatology higher specialist training in Birmingham and Manchester.
She has completed two advanced Dermatology Fellowships in Oxford, UK and Sydney, Australia. In addition, she has gained further experience in medical and cosmetic dermatology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, and the Cosmetic Surgery and Skin Health Centre, Pittsburgh, USA.
Dr Nicole has been featured on the Channel 5 series Women’s Health: Breaking the Taboos (Episode 4), where she shared her expertise on hair loss in women. She has also appeared on Channel 4’s Love My Face (Episodes 1 and 4), supporting patients including Mia, who was living with alopecia, and Susan, who experienced severe facial and neck scarring, helping them rebuild their confidence.
Reflecting on her work, Dr Nicole says, “It has been incredibly rewarding to see patients who once felt hopeless regain their confidence and feel comfortable in their own skin.”
Dr Nicole enjoys reading and writing for dermatological journals. She believes that this is the best way of keeping up to date with the latest dermatological advances. She has held the following positions: sub-section Editor of the International Journal of Women’s Dermatology, British Association of Dermatologists’ Therapy and Guidelines Subcommittee, Founding Committee Member of the British Society for Medical Dermatology and British Association of Dermatologists’ Dermschool, Associate Faculty Member of Faculty of 1000, and Associate College Tutor for the Royal College of Physicians.
Dr Nicole has written books on her subject – “Dermatology: a handbook for medical students and junior doctors” and“Dermatology: a handbook for general practitioners”, authored two book chapters in the textbooks of Dermatology, and has many publications in the fields of cosmetic, medical and surgical dermatology in international peer-reviewed journals. She has recently been featured on Channel 5 TV series – “Women’s Health – breaking the taboos (episode 4, 2022)” where she discussed treatments for alopecia.
Outside of dermatology, Dr Nicole enjoys playing the piano, swimming and travelling.
